This follows a review of the town’s current postal service model, prompted by community feedback and anger following the closure of the town’s LPO earlier this year.
An Australia Post spokesperson reached out to the Southern Riverina News this week to inform the community of the expressions of interest process.
The previous LPO was closed in February, sparking shock and anger from the community.
Marilyn’s Pharmacy stepped in at short notice to operate as a Community Postal Agency, ensuring customers retained access to essential postal services without disruption.
But the community lost dedicated PO boxes, as well as banking, bill payments, identity checks, passport services and parcel tracking provided by the former LPO.
Local lobbying culminated in a 200 person rally last month, with NSW Member for Murray Dalton also advocating strongly for the community.
Businesses interested in operating the LPO can register by emailing EOINSWACT@auspost.com.au before the closing date of 5pm on Friday, June 19.
