Back to the Future star James Tolkan dies aged 94
James Tolkan, known for Back to the Future and Top Gun, has died aged 94 after a remarkable acting career spanning decades.
15°CUnconditionally deeply and fiercely loved and loving mum to Patricia and Tim, nana to Sam, and great nana to Flynn, mum in law to Chris and nana in law to Ash.
True friend to Billie and Lucy who loved her and sustained her through good times and bad. Mum said she couldn’t have done life without them.
Beloved daughter of Ivy and Percival Turnbull and younger sister to Ken and Doug. All together at last.
Mum could never walk past a person who needed help. She loved talking to everyone and asked interesting questions to understand more about their lives. For this, she was well known in our local community. She also had the ability to make people laugh, so we could always hear her before we saw her, how beautiful.
She was both mum and dad to us. Between mum and our nanna, who we went to live with, we were poor but didn’t know it, safe, clean and loved beyond measure. Mum was our defender, our biggest supporter and friend. Always there when needed. Never let us down. Not once.
Being able to live together in our last thirty years has been such a privilege and honour. No funeral by request.
A huge thank you to all the staff of The Royal Melbourne Hospital. The dignity and care during her short stay was so comforting to us all.
