The Tigers have endured a tough stretch with several missing personnel early in the season, but the return of Hugh Hamilton to the line-up was another step towards full strength for the 2025 runners-up.
Lachie Hansen moves it by hand in his first senior game.
Euroa Memorial Oval was the site of the clash and both sides had stretches on top during the first half.
Rochester started quickly, kicking two goals and breaking out to a 14-0 lead, but Euroa responded with three straight to take the lead before a Kyle Waters major gave the Tigers a two-point edge at the first break.
Fletcher White sends it forward.
Rochy again tried to break free in the second with an early major, but was once more reeled in by the Magpies, Euroa winning the period and earning a two-point break of its own at half-time.
Ash Watson’s team talk at the break did the trick for the Tigers and they surged well in front in the third period, kicking four goals to one from Euroa.
Ryley Ferguson rises to win the hit-out.
The run continued into the final term and the margin was as wide as 37 before Euroa found a couple of late consolation scores to go down 12.11 (83) to 9.5 (59).
The returning Hamilton was among four players to kick two majors, joined by Ryley Ferguson, Felix Fogarty and Nate Rasmussen.
Andy Henderson looks to move it on the way down.
Midfield linchpin Mitchell Trewhella was again the Tigers’ best.
Rochester improves to 2-4, advancing to eighth on the table, but with a third of the year gone, the Tigers have some work to do to return to the grand final heights of last year.
A strong Shepparton Swans (4-2) outfit is the side’s next challenge, the two clubs to meet this Saturday at Moon Oval.
