Grand finals for the 10-week season were played on Wednesday, March 3.
The first tip-off happened way back on July 21, 2020.
To say the club has been on a rollercoaster journey would be an understatement.
“We’re proud to have made it his far,” secretary Meagan Keating said.
“We’ve made it through a number of school holidays and lockdowns. We’ve also had to work our way through the countless restrictions which had been in place.
“It was always our goal as a committee to give our kids the opportunity to play the sport they love.
“Right now, it is considered a precious opportunity to play sport and we can’t take that for granted.”
Across the night there were four games scheduled which included the under-14 and under-18 boys’ and girls’ competition.
In the under-14 boys’ competition, Harrison Keating was named the best player on the court as the Pacers overcame the Knicks 51-33.
While for the girls, Justice Powles helped to lift the Pistons to a nail biting 19-17 win against the Wizards.
Ruby Wileman was the hero for the Pistons scoring the winning basket with just 20 seconds left on the clock.
And supporters weren’t disappointed when the older age group stepped onto the court either.
Teagan Williams starred as the Air Ballers snuck across the line against the Rangers, winning 29-28.
Meanwhile, Darby Wileman did as he pleased in the under-18 boys’ final, leading the Hellcats to a 52-42 win over the Boomers.
“It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces out on the court,” Keating said.
“All of the games were played in great spirit and we congratulate our winning teams.
“One of the exciting things of the day was the players who were named best on court were given a Rochester Business Network voucher to spend locally, which is fantastic.
“We’re very grateful to have the RBN’s support.”
While the season might have just concluded, it doesn’t mean there is any time for the club to slow down.
On Wednesday, March 10 the 2021 mini hoops program is set to begin for students in Foundation to Year 3.
Foundation and Year 1 students will participate in sessions between 4 pm and 4.30 pm before the older students hit the court between 4.30 pm and 5.15 pm.
A gold coin donation is required for participation each week.
The program will be held in conjunction with Rochester Secondary College’s Duke of Edinburgh program.
The club will also announce details for its winter season in the coming weeks.
