● VOUCHERS to help get Victorian kids back into sport have been made available from Monday, March 1.
The Victorian Government's Get Active Kids program will provide grants of up to $200 for sporting equipment, uniforms and memberships.
The vouchers are available for children aged four to 18 years who reside in Victoria, are named on a current Australian Government Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card and also named on a valid Australian Government Medicare Card.
Second-hand equipment and uniforms purchased that meet the eligibility criteria can be claimed as part of the program, in addition to new equipment and uniforms.
Community Sport Minister Ros Spence confirmed applications would open at 10 am with the first of 100,000 vouchers available.
“Every child deserves the chance to be active and healthy and these vouchers will help families to afford the sports their kids love to play,” she said.
“Sports clubs bring people together and create healthier, happier and more united communities — it’s fantastic this program will also provide them with a major boost.”
Applications for vouchers in round one of Get Active Kids will close on April 11.
