The season kicks off with opening night on Friday, August 14, from 4.30pm at the Deniliquin Rams’ Hardinge St oval.
New little athletes and their families are welcome to trial on the opening night before registering for the season ahead.
Events include running, high jump, long jump, relay, javelin, shot put, hurdles, and more.
DLA president Lauren Ryan described the local club as “thriving”, with strong registration numbers last season and being committed to providing young people with opportunities to excel in athletics but also “focusing on participation and personal improvement”.
“The club offers comprehensive training programs led by experienced coaches, covering various disciplines, and organises competitive events throughout the season,” she said.
“Deniliquin Little Athletics is a great place for kids to develop essential life skills like teamwork, discipline and perseverance.”
Ryan said the club also actively engages with the community through initiatives such as fundraising events and volunteering opportunities “aiming to instil values of giving back and being responsible citizens”.
“We’re very lucky to have a wonderful group of parent helpers and community volunteers setting a wonderful example for our little athletes.
“However, we’d very much welcome more helpers for the season ahead and encourage parents to register their interest on opening night.
“We’re also very appreciative of the Deniliquin Rams volunteers and Edward River Council staff who present the oval and surrounds in such excellent condition for track and field competition.”
The season runs from August 14 until December 4 and registration costs are $100 for tiny tots (three to four year-olds born in 2022 or 2023) and $120 for ages under six to under 18.
