Colbinabbin and Mount Pleasant are undefeated through three rounds after picking up comfortable results on Sunday.
Mount Pleasant v Lockington-Bamawm United
The Cats kept it close for a half at Lockington Recreation Reserve, but in the end the Mounts proved too powerful, bursting away in the final term to win 75-39.
The opening period had only five goals in it, as Mount Pleasant led the way 14-9 at the first break.
The second term was equally as tight and the Mounts added only two to their lead before half-time, holding a seven-goal advantage at the main interval.
The visitors put the foot down after the break and doubled their advantage in the third term and, with Lockington spirits finally broken, the fourth became a 27-5 rout as Mount Pleasant eventually earned the comfortable victory.
Colbinabbin v White Hills
It wasn’t great news for those outside the top two as third-ranked White Hills was comprehensively downed by the reigning premier, 62-35.
Colbo hosted the clash and the Demons had no answer for the Grasshoppers’ premiership quality at both ends.
The champion sits slightly back from Mount Pleasant on goal difference, both 3-0, while White Hills, after suffering its first defeat, remains third.
Elmore v North Bendigo
Elmore stuck with North Bendigo for three quarters, but fell to defeat late.
After a valiant effort, the Bloods fell off late, going down to North Bendigo on home turf 35-27.
There was nothing in it through three quarters, the Bulldogs leading by two at the first change, but Elmore restoring parity by half-time.
North Bendigo again edged ahead by a single score at three-quarter time, but broke the shackles in the final term, winning it 14-7 to secure the win.
The Bulldogs are in fourth place at 2-1, while Elmore currently sits at the base of the table at 0-2.
In the remaining game, Huntly proved too good for Heathcote 60-34.
Leitchville-Gunbower had the bye.
Round four will be headlined by the top-of-the-table grand final rematch between Colbinabbin and Mount Pleasant, to be held at Toolleen Recreation Reserve.
Elmore will travel to White Hills, Heathcote will host Lockington-Bamawm United and Huntly will be away to Leitchville-Gunbower.
