After a horror run of match-ups to start the season that saw the Tigers face the three other members of the 2025 top four in succession, Rochy was given a little respite against last year’s wooden spooner in round four.
Rochester made no mistakes against the Bulldogs in a clinical display, kicking five goals to one in the opening term to establish early dominance.
Another three to one in the second period had the Tigers leading by almost 40 at the main break and the rampage continued after half-time, with the host piling on another 10 majors in the second half.
It resulted in a big Rochester win by 97 points, 18.14 (122) to 3.7 (25), the Tigers recording their first points of the season in style.
Felix Fogaty snagged six majors in a great performance from the forward pocket.
Felix Fogarty was active in the forward pocket, slotting a game-best six goals, while Ryley Ferguson found three and debutant Ethan Howard opened his account.
Critical midfield piece Mitch Trewhella led a best players list that also included Fogarty, Nate Rasmussen, Ryan O’Keefe and Bailey Wileman
Rochester is still without some crucial players, including Hamilton brothers Hugh and Wil and long-term injured absentee Mitch Cricelli, but Ash Watson’s side will be hopeful that with many of the harder games behind it, the Tigers can start to make a push up the ladder in future weeks.
Currently Rochy sits in 10th, but is only one game back from fourth-placed Mansfield.
The difficult early schedule resumes on Saturday as Rochy is once again at home, this time to unbeaten ladder leader Shepparton.
A run of night games has ended, the match set to begin at the regular time of 2pm.
