It was the Tigers’ last game on home soil for the season, as the Magpies travelled to Rochester Recreation Reserve and came away with the victory by 22 goals, 63-41.
A scrappy start for the Tigers, which saw them claw back an early deficit over the first few minutes, gave way in the face of Euroa’s slick ball movement.
From 5-6, the Magpies scored seven straight to surge ahead by eight and never found themselves too troubled on the scoreboard from then on.
Euroa was doubling up Rochester by quarter-time, 20-10, but the Tigers started the second well, setting up a potential fightback.
The hosts surged back to within four, but another Magpies run switched the momentum again and Euroa led 34-23 at half-time.
The second half followed a similar trajectory and, although, Rochy had some strong passages of play, it was the Magpies who were on top more often, running away by 22 on the final scorecard.
Tia Webb was right there with Euroa’s best around the ring, scoring 29 goals, close to the Magpies’ leader Bec Coldwell who topped the game with 32.
The Tigers’ (3-14) will travel to Deakin Reserve in the final round on Saturday, facing off against a desperate reigning premier Shepparton, which needs to win to make finals.
