Reigning premier Colbinabbin and contender Mount Pleasant continue to set the pace after dominant displays against North Bendigo and Huntly, respectively, while Lockington Bamawm United fell to a second straight loss with defeat to White Hills.
RESULTS
Round two
North Bendigo 30 lost to Colbinabbin 57
Mount Pleasant 77 d Huntly 40
White Hills 68 d Lockington Bamawm United 41
Leitchville-Gunbower 46 d Heathcote 40
Colbinabbin entered round two fresh off a huge first up win against Elmore, facing a North Bendigo side looking to test itself against stronger opposition after a win against Lockington.
Jen McIntrye’s side once again proved far too strong for its opponent, mirroring its round one performance with a margin of victory almost double North Bendigo’s score, Colbo winning 57-30.
The win means the Grasshoppers are, as expected, placed as one of the league’s top sides, currently sitting second and being only behind Mount Pleasant on percentage.
Colbo has had a relatively comfortable start with its schedule, but should face a more competitive outing this weekend, taking on a White Hills side that has also won both of its opening two games.

Mount Pleasant’s 59-goal victory over Leitchville-Gunbower was the eye-catcher from round one, and the Mighty Mounts seemed destined to make it two from two against a Huntly team that lost its first game.
Anthea McCleary’s team lived up to expectation, prevailing 77-40 in another outing where its goal scoring prowess was on full display.
As mentioned, Pleasant is just ahead of Colbo in first on the ladder, with the 160 goals it has netted in two games being the fundamental reason why it boasts a percentage of 250.
Last year’s runner-up travels to winless Lockington for round three this weekend, another game where its goalers may feel they can run up the score again.

Lockington was competitive in a close defeat to North Bendigo last time out, though a White Hills team that finished second last year and was victorious in round one presented arguably a tougher challenge for round two.
The Demons would prove that line of thinking correct, White Hills coasting to a 68-41 victory over the Cats.
Stacy Bacon’s side is one of only two teams, along with Huntly, to be winless from two games, with its start to the season not providing much change from a tough 2025.
The action won’t get any easier next up for Locky either when Mount Pleasant visits Lockington Recreation Reserve this Sunday.
The game begins at 2.30pm, featuring in a Past Players Reunion Round that Lockington is holding, the club inviting supporters to attend to reminisce about former Cats featured in teams ranging from as early as 1966 to as recently as 2006.

In the other round two game, Leitchville-Gunbower and Heathcote played out a thriller, as the Bombers bounced back from a heavy round one loss to win 46-40.
