Formed on June 7, 1926 following a public meeting in the Lockington Memorial Hall, the club is in its centenary year.
Members will formally mark the anniversary with a 4-person Ambrose event and a celebratory afternoon tea in the clubhouse on Saturday, May 9.
The event will be open to all interested players, and the club will accept both team and individual entries.
Secretary Darren Carnie extended a warm invitation to anyone who has had an involvement with the club in the past to come along and share in the festivities.
“We’d love to see some familiar faces back in Locky for afternoon tea on the day and hope that the friends and family of people who have moved away will pass on the details and encourage them to attend,” he said.
“We’re hoping to share a display of photos and memorabilia documenting the club’s rich history over the past 100 years, and anyone who has something to contribute is asked to make contact.”
Lockington Golf Club’ first venue was a nine hole course west of the town’s railway station, opened on June 16, 1926.
This course was in operation until 1931, when new links were laid out around the Recreation Reserve, where the Lockington Primary School is now located.
The club moved again in 1939 to a property in Kotta before an 18-hole course was eventually established at the club’s current home, on Middleton Rd, in 1962.
Hit-off for the centenary Ambrose will be at 11am (shotgun start), with afternoon tea celebrations to begin from 2.30pm onwards.
RSVP by Saturday, May 2, for catering purposes.
