Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad Child Exploitation Internet Unit into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
In May 2026, strike force detectives commenced an investigation into the online activities of a 22-year-old man.
Assuming the online identity of a female child, detectives spoke with a man who allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the child, police said.
Strike force detectives executed a search warrant in Tocumwal at about 6.20am on Wednesday, June 17.
Detectives seized electronic devices that allegedly contained child abuse material, police said.
A 22-year-old Tocumwal man was arrested and charged with 15 counts of using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material, three counts of using a carriage service to make available child abuse material, using a carriage service to procure a child under 16 for sexual activity, possessing child abuse material, and using a carriage service to plan or procure a person for sex.
He will appear in Local Court at a later date.
