Participants gathered along the river to replace outdated signage, clean up walking tracks and enjoy family-friendly activities.
Rochester's walking tracks along the Campaspe River have received updated signage.
Rochester Business Network president Sanjay Ranchhod said the project had been needed for some time.
“It’s been a long time coming,” he said.
“When you walk around along the river, the signs were very outdated, and it needed some work.”
With the help of Campaspe River Reserve committee member Paul Poort, the existing signs were replaced.
Despite the cold conditions, about 50 volunteers and children attended the event to help put the signs in place.
Attendees also took part in a smoking ceremony led by Aunty Neva Takele and children got involved in a scavenger hunt organised by the 1st Rochester Scout Group.

Mr Ranchhod said the day reflected the RBN’s commitment to supporting the wider community.
“We like to help everyone get together, it’s not just business,” he said.
“The more we can assist or aid in some sort of way, the community benefits at the end of the day.”
Following the success of the event, Rochester Business Network is considering holding another community day during the warmer months.
