After completing the lowering of the V/Line and Australian Rail Track Corporation tracks under the Hume Fwy at Seymour, and demobilising the site, Inland Rail is continuing construction activity at other sites across the shire.
At Broadford, construction at the Marchbanks Rd bridge site is accelerating with a four-day road closure set, before a longer closure later in the year to demolish and rebuild the bridge.
Marchbanks Rd bridge will be closed for essential piling works from 7pm on Thursday, July 9 to 7am on Monday, July 13.
A detour will be in place via the Hume Fwy Clonbinane interchange.
Asphalting, line marking and landscaping are continuing at the Hamilton St and Short St bridge sites.
At Wandong, work will continue to construct the new roundabout at the Broadford-Wandong Rd and Rail St intersection.
From Monday, July 13 to Saturday, July 25, sections of Epping-Kilmore Rd, Broadford-Wandong Rd bridge, Broadford-Wandong Rd and Rail St in Wandong will be temporarily closed from 8pm to 6am to complete asphalting and line marking works.
Overnight closures will be staged, so that they do not occur at the same time, and residents and road users should refer to electric signage for up-to-date traffic changes and road closure details.
At Tallarook, the track lowering and bridge strengthening works will be completed later this year.
“We thank the community for their patience and co-operation as we continue delivering these important works across Mitchell Shire,” an Inland Rail spokesperson said.
“These upgrades will provide safer, more reliable road and pedestrian connections for residents and users, supporting local communities for generations.”
Inland Rail is on track to complete construction of sections between Beveridge and Parkes, NSW by the end of 2027.
