Police are urging people to be more discerning when having parcels delivered, after the reported theft of a delivery this week.
Police were contacted about 4pm Wednesday about a package being taken from a west Deniliquin address.
The recipient, who was not home, had asked a friend to collect the parcel after receiving delivery notification.
By the time the friend arrived at the property, the package was no longer there.
Detective Chief Inspector Jy Brown said while parcels theft is usually more common at Christime time, when there is a high volume of post, he said it’s a timely reminder to be cautious year-round.
“We urge people to be vigilant if they are having a package delivered.
“If you know you’re not going to be home, try and make arrangements for someone to accept the parcel on your behalf.”
