They grow up so fast: Students of Lockington Consolidated planted $1500 worth of plants at the entrance of the school.

We were lucky enough to receive a grant from Rural Aid to purchase $1500 worth of plants to improve the entrance to our wonderful school.

In normal circumstances, volunteers from across Australia would travel around to different locations and assist communities with different projects funded by Rural Aid.

This year of course, with travel restrictions in place, these wonderful volunteers were not able to travel.

That is where our brilliant art teacher Kath Connors comes into the picture!

Kath worked with Rural Aid to secure the grant, then she liaised with the Rochester Native Nursery to see which plants were going to suit the position and soil the best.

Kath then co-ordinated our Grade 5/6 students upon their staggered return to school, to plant the plants and beautify the area.

A wonderful effort, and we would like to say a huge thanks to Rural Aid for their generous donation and to Kath for co-ordinating the plantings.
