The Israeli military said it was investigating the fall of a projectile launched from Yemen, which landed in the vicinity of Ben Gurion Airport.
"Following the sirens that sounded in a number of areas in Israel, several attempts were made to intercept a missile that was launched from Yemen," the military said.
"Reports were received regarding a fallen projectile in central Israel, the details are under review."
A Reuters reporter at the airport heard sirens and saw passengers reacting by running towards safe rooms.
Several people at the airport posted videos filmed on smartphones that showed a plume of black smoke clearly visible nearby, behind parked aircraft and airport buildings. Reuters has not verified the videos.
The Israeli ambulance service said there were no reports of serious injuries. A man and a woman with light injuries were being taken to hospital and two people were being treated at the scene for the effects of panic.
Airport authorities said the projectile had landed by a road near a car park. One photo shared on social media showed a bend in a road covered in debris.
Israeli police said air traffic to the country's main airport was closed, but plane traffic and other activity around the airport was expected to resume after officers performed final searches.
It was the third day in a row that Israel came under attack from Houthi rebels.
The Houthis, an Iranian-backed rebel group that controls large parts of war-torn Yemen, have repeatedly fired missiles at Israel since the military resumed its attacks on Gaza following a two-month ceasefire on March 18.
The latest attack comes as top Israeli cabinet ministers are set to vote on whether to intensify the nation's military operations in Gaza, and as the army has begun to call up thousands of reserve soldiers in preparation for an expanded assault.
An Israeli official said the country's influential security cabinet would meet on Sunday evening to vote on plans to expand the fighting.

Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, in an interview with Israeli Army Radio, said he wanted to see a "powerful" expansion of the war, but did not disclose details as to what that would entail.
"We need to increase the intensity and continue until we achieve total victory. We must win a total victory," he said.
The plans to escalate fighting in Gaza more than 18 months after the war there erupted come as a humanitarian crisis in the territory deepens.
The Gaza war started after Hamas-led fighters killed 1200 people and took 251 hostages to Gaza in the October 7, 2023 attacks, according to Israeli tallies. Since then, Israel's offensive on the enclave killed more than 52,000, according to Palestinian health officials.
