Round three of the Campaspe Playing Area weekend pennant was held on Saturday, with Rochy’s division one side falling to 1-2 after losing to Tongala in all three rinks, 16-69 to 0-46.
The side is third from the bottom early on, but only one win behind the leaders with no side undefeated.
“We’ve had one good win and we had a bad loss last week, but anyway, we’re early in the season,” club secretary Leigh Milgate said.
The club’s division two squad continued a promising start, moving into second place with a contrasting dominant win over Tongala, 16-74 to 0-49.
Round two of the midweek pennant last Tuesday saw Rochester’s top-grade side narrowly miss out on opening its account, going down 14-70 to 2-63 against Kyabram.
The club is at home to Stanhope on Tuesday.
Milgate said while the club would love to make a finals run in the divisions this year, across weekend and midweek, sides were not putting too much pressure on themselves to hit a certain mark.
“I suppose we don’t want to finish on the bottom of the ladder, that’s the main goal, but we just hope that we can produce a good year and get a few wins, finish midfield and regroup for next year,” he said.
Away from pennant action, there will be plenty of other social and tournament events on the calendar throughout the year, including the ladies’ fours coming up this Thursday.
The tournament is full up with 20 rinks and 40 teams from around the wider region set to hit the greens.
