On their home court, the Tigers were in the thick of the contest with Tatura, with only a handful of goals separating the sides throughout in the eventual 49-43 Bulldogs win.
The two sides were in lockstep through much of the first period, with Tat earning the first major lead of the game at 10-7, a lead it eventually held until the interval.
The advantage stretched to as many as six in the second, but a Tigers fightback almost brought things level before the Bulldogs were able to restore their three-goal break, 25-22, at the half.
Rochester levelled the scores quickly coming out of the break, but Tatura again found its form, pushing five ahead by three-quarter time.
The Tigers got as close as three during the final term, but the Bulldogs did enough to secure the six-goal win.
Ava Nihill and Tia Webb again shared the scoring duties for Rochy, Webb providing 24 goals and Nihill 19.
Tatura employed three different shooters in the contest, led by Charlette Gray’s 22.
At 3-4, Rochester is still in range of the top six, trailing fifth by only a single game.
A very winnable game after the interleague break, against Shepparton United (2-5), on May 31, would be an important next step towards their finals ambitions if the Tigers can earn the four points.
