Rochy currently sits eighth on the weekend pennant ladder, barely above wooden spooner Mathoura, thanks in large part to its two byes in the first 10 rounds of the season.
With a record of 1-7, the only victory Rochy has had came in round five, taking down Tongala 15-61 to 1-47 in an upset.
With five rounds to go in the weekend pennant before finals, Rochy won’t be making the post-season in 2025-26 and has a mixed bag of opponents ahead.
Rochy’s first opponent back will be formidable Kyabram on Saturday at Kyabram Bowling Club, which looks a threat to win it all.
It will also have to play other contenders Stanhope and Echuca in the run home, but will have a chance to bank two more wins against Mathoura and Tonny.
Rochy is in a similar, albeit worse situation in the midweek pennant, despite winning more games, is sitting at the bottom of the ladder (2-8).
While finals is realistically out of the question, Rochy could still get to six wins for the season and find itself just out of the finals picture.
It’s two wins came in the opening round against Stanhope 15-66 to 1-53 and in round seven against Mathoura 14-57 to 2-48.
For the final four rounds of the season, Rochy will get its chances, but also faces stiff competition as well, starting with dominant ladder leader Moama at Moama Bowling Club on Tuesday, January 20.
It will then play Deniliquin, Echuca and Mathoura to round out its season.
