Under-12 Girls
On home turf Friday night, the Rochester Under-12 girls took on South Bendigo Red in a spirited clash that showcased their trademark toughness and teamwork.

Coach Trent Riordan fired up the squad pre-game, reminding them of their reputation as one of the strongest tackling sides in the league.
“If you all work together and keep the ball in our forward line, South Bendigo will understand Rochester is a tough and stronger side,” Riordan said.
“Go out there, try hard and try your best,” and that’s exactly what the Tigers did.
The first half was a tight contest, with both teams struggling to find the goals.
Rochester’s backline stood tall, shutting down South Bendigo’s forward entries and keeping them scoreless.
With Ella Forde absent from the midfield, Macey Macfarlane stepped up, taking on a pivotal role.
Coach Riordan urged her to “be one kick away from the play,” while Willow Brooks was told to “keep being tough in the ruck and hit the ball hard.”
Mackenzie Harvey was praised and encouraged to stay strong in the forward line.
The team responded with discipline and determination, spreading out and locking down their opponents.
By three-quarter-time, fatigue began to set in, but the Tigers refused to back down.
Rochester’s fearless Ava Rasmussen showed incredible stamina and grit, while Frankie Hay broke through tackles with fierce determination.
Makenzie Harvey worked tirelessly in the forward line, relentlessly pushing to score.
Frankie Hay ultimately delivered the goods, kicking the only two goals of the match and securing Rochester’s 2.6 (18) win over South Bendigo Red’s 0.3 (3).
Coach Riordan praised the team’s resilience, “It wasn’t easy tonight, it was a bit of a battle,” he said.
“We moved players into different positions, and you all showed resilience and dug deep. Well done, girls.”

Under-12 Mixed
It was great conditions Friday night at the Lockington Recreation Reserve and a great game to finish the season.
The Cats came out firing, kicking the first two goals of the game.
It took the Tigers almost the whole first fifteen minutes to settle in.
Cooper Rasmussen kicked a nice set shot goal before the first break.
Rochester kept LBU scoreless in the second quarter.
Outstanding pressure from Nash Riordan and Heath Wilkins across halfback, gave great opportunities for our forwards to kick two goals for the quarter and led by seven points at half-time.
The third quarter was a scrappy contest, with no team managing to kick a major.
Charlie Pascoe and Jerome Murray made it difficult for the Cats to enter forward 50, the Tigers scoring two points for the term.
Max Seabrook and Jaxon Scoble set the tone in the last quarter, and the team lifted with them, kicking three goals to LBU's two.
Emmett Sceney kicked a goal on the final siren, the Tigers winning by 12 points.

Next Sunday, August 17, we are hosting the Lightning Premiership at the Rochester Recreation Reserve, playing games on both Moon Oval and Windridge Oval.

Under-14 Mixed
With the sun out and some warmth in the air, Rochester came out with intensity to take on White Hills.
Mason Mundie got things started, winning the first tap for the game, enabling Rochester to score the first goal.
Walt James took a beautiful mark on the ground to put Rochester into the forward line for their second goal for the game.
Rochester held its momentum for the quarter, entering its forward line on many occasions and locking the ball up at every contest.
It was a great start to the battle of second and third on the ladder, with Rochester coming out on top with three goals to none for quarter.
Two goals for the quarter to Mac Dickinson and a single for Maddox Parker.
Rochester started with the first goals for the second quarter.
White Hills was able to score its first goal for the game, as the Rochester backline was under-pressure from the White Hills attack.
Ayden Betts was working hard to keep the White Hills players goalless.
White Hills had lifted its momentum and Rochester was finding it harder to control the ball, with White Hills challenging at goal on more occasions.
George McFadzean had a great quarter on the wing and Harry Rasmussen was in everything, having plenty of the ball for the first half of the game.
Two goals to Asher Rasmussen and Mac Dickinson rounded out the first half of football.
White Hills came out strong to score the first two goals of the third quarter, reducing Rochester’s lead to two goals.
White Hills were dominant for the majority of the third quarter as Rochester had stopped.
Rochester began to gain some momentum in the last minutes of the third quarter from the marking prowess of Asher Rasmussen, who snapped the first goal for Rochester for the quarter.
Hugh Acocks was having plenty of the ball and Louis Frawley had some great touches on the wing.
Rochester led by nine points going into the last quarter, in a great challenge for the Rochester team.
Rochester started the quarter on a high, winning the contest in the middle, with Mason Mundie fantastic in the ruck all game.
Mac Dickinson kicked the first three goals as Rochester lifted to extend the lead again.
Rochester was hard at every contest, tackling at every opportunity.
After a tough third quarter, Rochester was able to extend the lead and come out on top of White Hills.
Judd Cuttriss had plenty of possession for the quarter, as the entire Rochester team lifted for the win.
Hugh Acocks and Harry Rasmussen combined for a beautiful handball chain to result in another goal for Mac Dickinson.
Two goals also went to Mason Mundie and a single to Hugh Acocks for the quarter, Rochester winning by 39 points.

Under-16 Boys
It was a must win match for the Rochy boys on Sunday against White Hills, if they were to keep their finals chances alive.
Unfortunately, the team went in undermanned, being hit by injury and illness, and it eventually showed on the ground.
The first quarter was an even affair, with the ball entering both forward 50s, but scoring shots were few and far between.
At the first break, scores were level – 1.2 apiece.
White Hills shifted gears in the second quarter, but luckily for Rochy, the Demon's inaccurate kicking kept the Tigers in the game.
Charles Watson was marking well up forward and showed great decision-making.
However, things fell into place for White Hills, and they managed to snag a couple of quick goals late in the quarter to edge away.
A questionable kick after the siren gave them another major, and suddenly the Tigers were 23 points down, and scoreless for the quarter.
The Tigers played desperate football in the third, letting the Demons know they wouldn’t go quietly.
Asher Rasmussen was a great aerial target, and made his presence felt all over the ground.
Quick hands from Charles Watson to Cale James saw James manage to slot his second from 50 out, and there was a glimmer of hope in the Tiger camp.
However, the damage done in the second quarter was hard to resolve, and by three-quarter-time, White Hills held a comfortable 25-point lead.
The fourth quarter was hard going for the Rochy boys, but they fought to the end.
Amon Riordan maintained pressure with some great run-down tackles, and Oscar Danswan continued to spoil or intercept the ball at any contest he was part of.
A goal after the siren to Asher Rasmussen was the only score for the quarter, as the Tigers farewelled their chance of finals for 2025.
