Lockington Bowls Club
A rather quiet week on the bowling front after the hurly-burly of the premiership week previously.
Most of the club members have eventually returned back to earth.
The club competitions are almost complete, with a few minor upsets on the way.
In the B-grade championship, the semi-finalists are due to do battle.
Jeff Carnie defeated John Andrea and will play Steve McKee, while Ashley Dobell will meet Rod Fiedler in the other semi-final.
The 100-up championship resulted in Rod Fiedler defeating John van den Bosch in the semi-final to stake a berth in the final.
Ashley Dobell defeated Ray Hanson to win a semi-final spot and will wait for the result of the Dave Thomas-Steve Pavone qualifying match to play the winner in the other semi-final.
In the president’s trophy 21-up championship, Leon Laffy defeated John van den Bosch to make a semi-final and will play Ray Hanson, who upset Dave Thomas earlier.
Up top, Ashley Dobell proved too consistent for Cindy Felmingham and will meet the winner of the Kym Ray versus Neil Haines encounter.
The women have completed the B-grade championship between Kym Ray and Terrill Westwood.
Kym Ray was in blistering form as she immediately had Terrill Westwood under immediate pressure from the word go, and sprinted to 14-7 lead after 13 ends.
Westwood tried desperately to try and bridge the enormous gap, however the determined Ray kept her cool to win the title 25-8.
The scores were not a true story of the close heads and brilliant bowling from both players.
Earlier, Westwood defeated the in-form Sue Harris 25-15 in the semi-final.
In the women's 100-up championship, Terrill Westwood defeated Cindy Felmingham in the semi-final and made the final.
Denise Gilmore is waiting to play the winner of the Melissa Freeman-Kym Ray early round for a place in the other semi-final and meet Leanne McInnes.
The club catered for the wake of Madge Cunnington during the week and our members who all assisted in organising the wonderful afternoon tea are to be acknowledged.

60-and-over
The Campaspe 60-and-over Bowls Group held their Wednesday weekly bowls at Kyabram with a cloudy sky but a warm day.
Twenty-eight teams consisting of 112 bowlers were all competing for a chook.
There were two three-game winners and they rolled off to the jack.
Runners-up were Phil Mace’s team from Elmore, they had five bowls inside the metre from the jack, a great effort to see them in the top two winners circle.
The team was lead Phil Mace, second Allan Gerrish, third Greg Walkley, and their skipper was Alan Heywood.
The winners on the day were Allan Benson’s team from Rochester, also with five bowls near the jack but closer.
They were Bert Smolenaars as lead, Alan Benson second, Kevin Hall third, and Tim Quinlan was their skipper.
Members of both teams received a chook each.
The next 60-and-over bowls is at Elmore on Wednesday, March 25 with a 10am start.

Rochester Golf Club
Major works have been carried out over the last few weeks, with the help of John and Julie Leahy's earthmoving excavator and other members' equipment, 30 tree stumps and dead trees were removed.
The original dam beside the 15th scrape and 16th tee off, as well as the depression beside the 11th scrape, has now been reshaped and sown to form new and exciting grass bunkers.
Other "dry" areas in front of both the 14th and 15th tees have been resown with winter grass, and new sifted sand has been spread on most of the scrapes.
These improvements will see our course in top condition for this year's season and, more importantly, for visitors from around the state, as the club is hosting the 2026 Victorian Sand Greens Championship later in the year.
Many thanks to all involved.
Wednesday morning organiser King Richard drew partners after the Stableford round over the front nine.
Peter Anderson was lucky to draw the very consistent low handicapper, Shane Bywaters, and their combined score of 39 points won from Richard Feuk and Allan Campbell's (34).
Chris Eeles and Greg Watkins were next on 31, followed by the team of Les Hedington and Des Hocking with 30 points.
Hocking was closest to the pin on the third hole and had his first birdie after tapping in from close range.
