In the Goulburn Valley League, Echuca had a rare up and down day at the office, with the Murray Bombers’ senior footballers dropping their first game of the season in a 13.14 (92) to 8.10 (58) loss to Seymour, though the netballers were victorious 48-40.
Meanwhile, two clubs achieved perfect results in their respective Murray league matches, with Moama sweeping Deniliquin, as the Magpies’ football side got a much needed 8.11 (59) to 7.6 (48) win, while the netballers prevailed 45-34.
Tongala also swept its matches against Cobram, with the A-grade netball side comfortably winning 65-27, while the Blues secured a major victory in senior football, edging past the reigning premier 14.12 (96) to 15.4 (94) in a thriller.
Other Murray league outfit Echuca United did not achieve the same success across its two matches against Mulwala, with the Eagles being on the end of two heavy defeats, 19.10 (124) to 7.12 (54) in senior football and 70-31 in A-grade netball.
In the Heathcote District Football Netball League, Lockington Bamawm United had another two solid performances despite failing to sweep Huntly, with the Cats notching an 11.12 (78) to 8.7 (55) win in senior football, but falling 61-51 in A-grade netball in a competitive encounter.
Leitchville-Gunbower experienced much more difficulty in its meetings with Colbinabbin, as the Bombers went down 15.13 (103) to 9.4 (58) in senior football and 93-31 in A-grade netball.
Finally, Picola United and Mathoura again failed to notch a win across their Picola District Football Netball League matches on Saturday, as the Blues faced Deniliquin Rovers and the Timbercutters were up against Tungamah.
All four matches were one-sided, with Picola losing senior football 13.19 (97) to 6.7 (43) and A-grade netball 52-29, while Mathoura’s footballers and netballers went down 21.14 (140) to 7.6 (48) and 74-10, respectively.
