Moama, fifth, will be looking at the clash as an opportunity to jump back into the Murray Netball League top four, while the Eagles need a win to stay in the running for finals.
Coming off their second win of the season, United still remains three games off the pace of the top six, and with nine games to play in the home-and-away season, opportunities are narrowing.
“It’s going to be (about) patience and tempo against Moama,” Eagle’s co-coach Jess Saunders said.
“In the rivalry against Moama, we just try not to lose our heads.
“It’s a pretty strong and experienced side, so it’s just going to be about playing our own game.”
Magpies coach Lisa Drysdale said she was expecting the Eagles to come out firing on Saturday afternoon.
“I think they will come out all guns blazing,” Drysdale said.
“They only have two wins on the board, but they had a very impressive game against Nathalia the other week, getting within eight.
“Elle Florence is on fire at the moment as too is Jess Saunders in goals, so we’ll be mindful to keep them quiet throughout the day, if possible.”
Moama will be without Alex Daly, who remains under an injury cloud for the Magpies, while Steph Watson will also miss this weekend’s game.
The Magpies will have some extra coaching wisdom on the bench, with Alan Watson to be on the sidelines as an assistant.
Elsewhere in the Murray League, top-four sides Nathalia and Tongala will go head-to-head in a blockbuster clash on Saturday.
A win could see the Blues move ahead of the Purples and into third on the ladder, while a loss would instead see Nathalia open a gap over Tongala in fourth and Moama in fifth.
