Ahead of the Campaspe Tennis Association grand final between Rochester and Echuca 2 on Saturday, Rochester has provided Campaspe News a rundown of the 10-strong Rochy squad gearing up to take to the court.

Player: Lachlan Smith (c)

Name: Lachy

Right-handed

Recruited last year after moving from Qld and quickly adjusted to the grass courts.

A great asset to the team, taking on captain.

Lachy is such a lively player who covers all the court, accurate placement of the ball to get into the net and entertains the crowd with his dives to win the point.

Player: Jacob Grieves

Name: Greesy

Right-handed

Our Goornong resident recruited last year from the Bendigo competition to feed his appetite for grass courts plays a pivotal role in the team.

His old school serve and volley tennis and lightening reflexes are always impressive to watch.

Player: Nash Hocking

Name: Nasho

Left-handed

Nash is our white knight and has been troubled with injuries but don’t underestimate this gentle giant with his punishing forehand returns and his big presence at the net which puts all his opponents to the test.

Player: Todd Woodfine

Name: Toddy

Right-handed

Just the like the Johnny Farnham tour, Todd has pulled the racquet back out due to popular demand.

He is Mr Reliable on the court and loves the challenge to out rally every opponent.

Player: Tobie Woodfine

Name: Tobes

Right-handed

Grateful for the father son rule and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Tobes is a very tenacious player, grinding his opponent down with his strong calculated groundstrokes.

Player: Alyssa Moss

Name: Lyss

Right-handed

Recruited from Rich River, and we love her on the same side of the court this year.

One of the leading ladies of the region with flawless execution and returning every ball with interest.

Player: Karen Taylor

Name: Kaz

Right-handed

Our club President who is Mrs Realiable on and off the court.

Kaz is very strategic in her play and makes her opponents work hard for every point.

Player: Kaitlin Familari

Name: Famas

Left-handed

Someone call 000 …. When not serving the community, she takes to the court and her energy is infectious.

Kate has an unbelievable top spin forehand, causing havoc for her opponents and her double - handed volley is textbook.

Player: Kate Lee

Name: KT

Right-handed

Kate’s tennis has arrived on time, finishing out this season strongly.

With her strong cross-court forehand the envy of most players, she has been a dominant force.

Sick of wearing taffeta as a bridesmaid and keen for the team to take home the trophy this year.

Player: Rachael Major

Name: Rach

Right-handed

Rach will have her game face on as she lifts to another level in finals with her impeccable groundstrokes and well-rounded game.

She keeps her opponents home on the net in fear of a skilfully carried out sideline.
