Local representation is thin on the ground in the Campaspe Playing Area midweek finals, but Lockington’s division four outfit is flying the flag for the region.
After finishing atop the ladder with an 8-4-2 record, Locky faced off against second-ranked Stanhope with a grand final spot on the line last Tuesday.
The battle was fierce, with both sides claiming one rink, but on the final scorecard it was Lockington that had the edge 12-36 to 2-34.
Stephen Peter’s rink led the way for Lockington; his team of John and Pos Andrea and Shane Felmingham getting up 24-17 over a Barry Williams-led Stanhope quartet.
In the other rink, Locky skip Cindy Felmingham fell to rival Anthony Trist, but the 17-12 margin was narrow enough to see Lockington through.
Lockington will face the winner of the clash between Stanhope and Moama Green in the final at Rich River Bowls Club on March 10.
