Kyabram’s under-16 side went down fighting by a goal to Echuca before a huge crowd at the annual Travis Atkins Memorial day at Kyabram on Sunday.
The Bombers had more shots on goal in a see-sawing encounter.
James Priest who booted five goals, midfielder Mitch Wilson and Antonio Depasquale at both ends were standouts for Kyabram and received great support from Max Stockdale and Paddy Westerveld.
Kyabram takes on the Echuca Murray Bombers in the final home and away round this Sunday and a win would ensure a finals appearance.
· Kyabram’s under-14 side thrashed Echuca Murray Bombers in the Travis Atkins Memorial game to the tune of 72 points in a lop-sided affair.
Kyabram defender Riley Nicholson claimed the Travis Atkins Medal for best-on-ground narrowly from Archie Sheppard who kicked five goals and missed more.
Jet Emini was also active and accurate in the forward zone with four goals, while skipper Billy Isaac in the midfield and Tyler Carmody in defence were also prominent for the winners.
Kyabram, on top of the ladder, takes on second-placed Mooroopna in a final home and away blockbuster this weekend.
