As of Thursday morning, four days after entries opened on Monday, May 10, the Community Living and Respite Services fundraiser run has already sold 118 tickets across its 5km, 10km, and 21.1km half-marathon events
The event will this year be held on Sunday, August 2.
Junior bolts over 800m or 400m will also be returning to cater to younger runners.
A highlight, introduced last year, is the opportunity to stride across the old Echuca Moama Bridge, with the roadway closed to vehicles during the event.
CLRS outgoing chief executive Leah Taffe said the team was ready to open the bridge again, knowing what to expect after its first time on the course last year.
“We’re really excited to have our second year having the old bridge open and having people running over that,” she said.
“Looking forward to being a little more relaxed about that happening this year than we were last year.”
The Murray also takes centre stage, as runners cross the border twice and travel through Echuca’s historic port district alongside the river.
Last year 799 entrants took on the courses and raised $55,000 for Community Living and Respite Services’ Opening Doors Project.
“We're hoping to at least match that, being very mindful of the current economic climate that we're in, and we're excited to see if we can beat it,” Taffe said.
The project’s goal is to construct purpose-built homes for people with disability that require 24-hour support.
The first project opened in 2014, and has delivered three homes and 12 units, providing housing for 22 individuals.
Two Moama caravan parks only metres from the Run Echuca Moama start line, Riverside Holiday Park and BIG4 Moama Holiday Park, are offering discounted stays for event participants from out of town.
Entries between all three senior events are capped and early bird pricing of $50 for the 5km, $65 for the 10km and $80 for the 21.1km, ends on June 14.
