The senior Murray Bombers come into the year not as the defending premier for the first time since 2022, looking to return to the mountaintop they summited from 2022-24.
Echuca’s first action of the season comes against last year’s senior wooden spooner, Tatura, although the clash looks a more intriguing proposition in the netball, the Bulldogs finishing the A-grade season in fourth, while the Murray Bombers narrowly missed finals for the first time in several seasons.
Echuca’s adopted home this year will be Echuca South Recreation Reserve, as Victoria Park continues redevelopment, the Murray Bombers also partnering with Tongala to host select fixtures.
A clash against Benalla follows the Tatura opener, before back-to-back evening fixtures against nearby rivals Rochester and Kyabram.
The local clashes are part of a return to a zone format, with intra-zone rivalry clashes scheduled for rounds 1, 3, 4, 13, 14 and 15.
Zone 1 includes Kyabram, Echuca, Rochester and Tatura.
On Anzac Day, Kyabram and Echuca, the winners of seven of the past eight senior premierships, will face off at Kyabram Recreation Reserve in a night clash.
Echuca’s netballers will seek more glory after winning two premierships in 2025.
Other major rounds include Say No To Violence round on May 30, King’s Birthday weekend on June 6 and Indigenous round on July 4.
A split round will be held across August 1 and 8, with the Murray Bombers to feature on the first weekend.
Echuca’s final regular season fixture will have the side host Mooroopna at Echuca South on August 22 ahead of the start of the finals series on the weekend of August 29 and 30.
Ultimately, all Murray Bombers sides will be hoping to achieve glory on grand final day, September 20.
