Foundation founder Ken Hunter and Echuca resident Ken Sheldon, along with former Geelong and Essendon player John Barnes, were expected to offer insights into the consequences many former AFL players have suffered from concussion or similar injuries at the event.
This particular seminar would have also seen the foundation launch its AI-driven platform Healthmate, a free tool offering support for players, families and partners in the event of post-concussion struggles, which it also hoped to provide to local football-netball clubs.
But the event did not receive enough online bookings to justify going ahead.
“We did target the local football clubs and the sporting community of Echuca-Moama and we'll work hard to determine how we can better do that to get a better response and engagement from them,” event manager Gary Denson said.
“We just didn't hit the magic formula to get the clubs engaged.”
Denson also praised Moama Bowling Club for its support and organisation, despite the event not proceeding.
FifthQtr is likely to still hold a seminar in the Murray region in the future and is currently looking at venues further east.
