While the team is disappointed to not get the win over North, they are proud of how far the A Grade girls have come this year.
Coming together as an almost brand-new team, adapting to new players, sickness and injuries, each player has given 110 percent week in, week out.
They were in this game, but unfortunately North Albury's experience prevailed and they were able to capitalise on opportunities at key moments.
Awards
Club 1: Mikaela Trethowan’s athleticism was on show in WD, causing plenty of confusion in the defensive end and taking plenty of intercepts.
Club 2: Audrey Hogan and Sophie Morey shared the GK bib for a half each (after playing a ripper B Grade game themselves); both brought something different to the circle and both won plenty of ball against some quality defenders.
Players’ Player: Ange DeMamiel had another stellar performance on Saturday; she was relentless, providing clear options in attack and feeding beautifully into the ring, her work with Tamir outside the circle also producing some brilliant passages of play.
B Grade
Corowa Rutherglen 86 def North Albury 27
What a way to polish off a ripper season.
B Grade had a clinical run against the young Hoppers outfit.
They kicked off the first quarter with 17 goals and increased that each quarter to follow with 22, 23 and 24 respectively.
Showing great poise and connection, they turned over ball after ball and kept their opponents to 27 across the game, using precision and patience to convert turnovers into goals consistently.
Going into this game they knew they needed to score 80 goals at a minimum to have any chance at clawing their way back into finals and accomplished that with 87 goals to their name at the final whistle.
They were then relying solely on other games going their way to make finals, but unfortunately results didn’t fall the way they needed.
Although finals would have been a lovely icing on the cake for their competitive and promising season, they are proud of their playing group and how they’ve performed across 18 rounds.
Finishing two premiership points outside the top five, and four points off second place is a reason to hold their heads high as they look back and reflect.
The B grade premiership could go to any of the top five teams, with no outliers in that group.

Under 17s
Corowa Rutherglen 48 def by North Albury 49
The Under 17s came up against North Albury in their Round 18 clash and final round of the home and away season.
Their simple game plan heading into the game of give it everything, leave it all on the court and live by the phrase, ‘There is no tomorrow,’ is exactly what the girls executed.
They produced their best performance of the season, however, things didn’t fall their way on the scoreboard, going down by just one goal in the end.
What makes the result even more incredible is they went into the final quarter nine goals down and fought their way back, reducing the deficit by eight goals and showing the incredible character, determination and belief within this group.
With a couple more minutes on the clock, who knows what could have happened.
Regardless of the scoreboard, this was a huge win for them.
The way the girls fought for each other, trusted one another and refused to give up was something to be incredibly proud of.

Club 3: Zahli Demamiel was one of the Under 15 young guns who stepped up and played an outstanding game at GD; her relentless defensive pressure, willingness to put her body on the line and ability to hunt the ball was incredible to watch. Her smart spatial awareness and understanding of where she needed to be in transition was a huge asset, helping the team work the ball from defence to attack.
While it’s disappointing that the team couldn’t get the win on the weekend, the performance they produced and the way they finished the season is something they should all be incredibly proud of.
The scoreboard may not have gone their way, but in their eyes, it was a win.
