The Murray Bushrangers’ hunt for their first Talent League win of the season will continue after the Northern Knights dished out a heavy loss at Preston City Oval in round three.
After salvaging an epic draw against the Bendigo Pioneers last start, the Bushrangers carried that form across in a hard-fought opening stanza that saw the Bushies head into quarter-time only eight points behind.
Against a ruthless Knights, however, the game quickly tilted on its axis, with the Bushies unable to conjure a score in the second quarter while the Knights kicked six unanswered goals.
Tatura’s Pat McCarthy found the big sticks in his debut, but the Knights continued to pile on the pain, a six goal to two second half consigning the Bushies to a 3.5 (23) to 14.22 (106) defeat.
Seymour’s Rory Kennedy earned a mention in the best players for his influence on a difficult day and Justin McMahon’s troops will look ahead to this Friday’s clash against Geelong at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo as an opportunity to get on the winners’ list.
Meanwhile, the Bushranger girls are gearing up for their long-awaited launch into season 2026.
The Bushies are also bound for QEO this Sunday, hosting the GWV Rebels in their first game of the season.
