Elmore’s senior, reserves and under-18 football sides started the season well, contesting some competitive games, the wheels began to fall off as injuries piled up.
There is light at the end of the tunnel, however, with four netball sides putting their best foot forward in the hope of claiming a 2025 premiership in September.
The A-grade and under-17s finished the home and away season in fourth with a record of 9-6 and 10-6, respectively.
Meanwhile, the under-15s and under-13s did marginally better, both finishing third with only a win separating the end of season records for the two.
Elmore vice-president James Harney reflected on the home and away season for the football and netball sides.
“We started off very well with a lot of excitement around the club and some new faces and recruits and new coaches at the helm on the football side of things,” he said.
“The football part of the club ended up being a bit below average for what we were hoping for from early promise, but the netball side has had some change of coaching in A-grade and they’ve had an excellent, consistent year.
“They’re in the finals again which is exciting along with the junior teams that are really holding us up at the moment.
“The netball results have been truly promising, which is great for the club.”
While things didn’t go to plan for Elmore’s football hopefuls, the club will be supporting the netballers as they progress through the finals.
“The club will absolutely be getting around our netball sides, making finals is a hard thing to do, and you’ve got to celebrate it while they’re in there,” Harney said.
“The netball part of our club has done a fantastic job the last few years, with the A-grade side winning multiple premierships.
“The junior system is the future and, for those netball sides, to be getting good numbers and making finals means we will be set up well when those kids get into senior netball.”
Despite a mixed bag of a season club wide, Harney emphasised the strong spirit of Elmore, evidenced through its successful function nights — which will hopefully lead to more success down the track.
“It’s always good at Elmore, obviously it helps if you can win a few more games, but it is such a tight-knit community, we’re always getting everyone together and having functions,” he said.
“We had some really great functions this year that have been supported well by the community, we always get good attendance and it makes for fantastic nights for the club.
“Good functions and a social atmosphere are always what you need as a community-driven club, we are a close-knit family environment, so the more we can celebrate off the field and court, the more it will lead to success during the season.”
