Batting stocks further boosted

Elite batsman/wicketkeeper, Ben Fulford clips one into the gap for runs. The previous North Albury premiership player will now join Corowa for season 2025/26.

Corowa’s batting stocks have been further boosted with last week’s signing of star North Albury batsman and multi premiership player Ben Fulford.

And the hardest fielding position has been taken care of by the 31-year-old – Fulford was selected as the Australian Country wicketkeeper at last season’s Australian Country Championships in South Australia.

Fulford’s recruitment follows the previous week’s signing of star bat Cal Langlands. The prolific run scorers were teammates at the Hoppers with Langlands batting first drop, followed by Fulford.

“Yeah Cal batted before me and I was left to pick up the pieces!” Fulford joked to The Free Press.

“It’s very exciting coming to Corowa. It will be a fresh start. North Albury’s been most of my cricket career.

“I love the way Benny Mitchell (Roos’ captain) plays his cricket. With Cal and myself it will be a good combination. Corowa’s a great group of blokes and Ball Park is an absolutely beautiful cricket ground.”

Corowa Cricket Club President Paul Lavis welcomed Fulford’s recruitment.

“We are extremely excited that a player of his quality has joined us for the 2025/26 season and what he will offer our club both on and off the field,” Mr Lavis said.

“Ben is a fantastic keeper/bat, as evidenced by his selection as the Australian country keeper last season.

“A hard hitting, stylish middle order bat, his competitive attitude will lift the fielding side of our game to a new level. In the prime of his career, we are extremely fortunate to have him commit to the club.”
