The men didn't win their test series, narrowly missing the overall win.

Congratulations go to the Ladies Para team who won the Ladies Championship State Test.

Congratulations from Club Corowa to the Victoria Ladies Seniors who defeated NSW, winning the Test series.

Anne Miles and Mary Paton who play in the Ovens and Murray District were members of the winning Test Series team.

Congratulations to Chris Randell and Anne Miles who have been selected to represent Victoria at the Nationals in Perth from October 6-10 at North Beach, Western Australia.

Tuesday Social Bowls, August 18

Cool wintery conditions greeted 14 bowlers for their Tuesday Socials games, who then moved into Club Corowa to watch Chris Randell represent Bowls Victoria at the Para State Test Singles.

Winners were Gary Brown and Janet Mills, 2W +10.

Runners-up were Lynne Bowler, Shane Rosenow and Ketch, 1W 1L +9.

Congratulations to Shane Rosenow on being re-elected President of Corowa Civic Bowls Club for the 2026-27 season.

Open Saturday Jackpot Pairs and Triples, August 22

The club had a great turnout for the jackpot, with 27 bowlers playing in mixed conditions.

The jackpot wasn't drawn and now stands at $356 plus the green fee for next Saturday; Alma Muir cut the pack and number thirteen was again drawn (five times now).

Two subsequent draws of $178 were made and still there were no winners.

Members and visitors are all welcome to play in social bowls events, with Mufti dress, and names required on the time sheet by Midday.

Club Coaching with Chris Cooney

Chris will recommence Wednesday afternoon Coaching on September 2 at 4pm.

There is no coaching on September 9, with lessons resuming each week from September 16 to December 23.

2026-27 Opening Day

Club Corowa Bowls Opening Day is Saturday, September 19, with the format to be advised by the match committee; keep checking the notice boards.

District Novice Single Championship

District Novice Singles at Club Corowa Bowls will be played on Sunday, October 4.

Tournament organisers are the Ovens and Murray District and Shawn McMahon.

Club Championship knockout event dates have been completed and are displayed on the notice board.

The first event is the Minor Singles, with entries closing on September 6 for games scheduled on September 20 and 27.

Entries close on September 27 for the Lady and Men's Pairs Championships; games are scheduled for October 11, 18 and 25.

Federation Men's Triples Championship Tournament

Federation Triples September 12th and 13th has four available places; contact Chris Cooney on 0438 534 846 to enter your team.

This Tournament is sponsored by Club Corowa, with a prize pool of five prizes totalling $7000.

Corowa Civic Bowls Club

A good turnout of bowlers braved the weather for bowls last Wednesday.

Players got their first game in, but mid-way through the next game they had to abandon any further play as the rain set in.

Enough ends were played to get a result for the day.

Winners – Michael Bryan, Peter King and Geoff Smith.

Runners-up – Terry Shields, Jan Wandel-Webber and John Dalgleish.

There were 13 players taking part on a sunny Saturday with a little breeze at times; six ladies and seven gents.

Visitor Alan Jones was made welcome by the club and members.

Winners – Ian Lewis and Sue Curtis.

Runners-up – Col Hendren, Peter King and Jan Wandel-Webber.

The club wishes Brian McCarthy a speedy recover after his bout in hospital.

There are still places available for the Gwen Tait Ladies Triples Tournament to be held on Thursday, September 17.

During the week a round of the Mixed Pairs Consistency took place with Lynton Ford and Margaret Watson defeating Paul Hickey and Lynne Pyke.

The second round took place on Sunday, with Ian Lewis and Eileen Ide defeating Lynton Ford and Margaret Watson.

The Match Committee advises that because of Father’s Day the Men’s and Ladies pairs have been put back a week to Sunday 13th September.

Corowa Indoor Carpet Bowls

Sunday’s winners on 15 and 16 (31) were Georgie Agnew, Gloria McCluskey, Merylyn Milthorpe, and Greg Williamson, with Yvonne, Joan Fletcher, Naz Carnavale, and Bev Barron the runners-up on 5 and 16 (21).

Winners on Tuesday were Merylyn Milthorpe, Wendy Dunbar, and Angela Clapton, on 16 and 18 (34), and on 15 and 15 (30) were runners-up Betty Clancy, Glenda Willett, Naz Carnivale, and Gloria McCluskey.

Thursday’s winners on 18 and 15 (33) were Margaret Watson, and Gloria McCluskey, with Marie Leary, Naz Carnivale, and Graham Withers the runners-up on 4 and 17(21).
