Christmas Party Sun 14th Dec - Boy Did We Rock the Boat!
The clubs Christmas party was on Sunday the 14th dec aboard our major sponsors the Cumberoona and what a turnout.
100 members booked in a ready to party! From beautiful grazing boxers courtesy of Ev, followed by a lovely meal of chicken, ham, chips and salads and desserts of yummy plum pudding or pavs, the Cumberoona did a wonderful job taking care of us.
Whilst the wind was blowing a gale it didn’t stop our members dancing away to the marvelous Matt Rispin playing live and loud with his timeless classics.
Thank you to the board for embracing a new concept and heavily subsidising the Christmas party. This means that it was affordable and accessible to all and for putting on the Sat raffles event after pennant.
Thank you to all those that work all year from the match committee, the selection committee, the board, the people who help clean our clubrooms, the bar staff, the people who contribute food and help clean up, the people who cook the BBQs, put the Matt’s and Jacks out, clean the greens, maintain the premises.
Without these often-silent contributors we wouldn’t have a functioning club.
Thank you to our wonderful members for their support throughout the year, our club is truly unique and special being the sole bowls only club in the region.
Whilst we are struggling a little on the greens this year the club has united and the numbers over the two functions on the weekend displayed loyalty and camaraderie amongst our members and supporters. A huge thank you also to all our sponsors – we sincerely appreciate your support!
We wish our bowls community a safe and Happy Christmas and look forward to embracing 2026 together on and off the greens – see you in 2026.
Tungamah Bowls Club
Tungamah players and supporters are pleased to hear that Ian “Crowbar” Britnall is on the mend and be back as the Barrel B…h in the New Year.
Covid continues to haunt us with its presence, no matter what precautions we take. Thank you to Woolworths for their generous support of our Club. Small clubs like Tungamah don’t exist without volunteers and support from the local community. This donation at Christmas is very much appreciated by the club.
Midweek Pennant
Border Golf was the venue, and we just missed out on a win, going down 61 to 60.
We picked up 4 points for two Rinks and remain third on the ladder.
The club travel to Lavington next for the last match for 2025. They are on top and undefeated, but Tungamah is always up for a challenge.
A3’s: Played at Wangaratta against Bright, strange but both greens are being renovated, Wangaratta was convenient for both and happy to let us share their greens.
A great tussle, played in excellent spirits which resulted in a 73 each draw. Tunga got three Rinks up so came away with 11 points, seventh on the ladder and play Swanpool when play resumes on 17 th January.
B1’s: Travelled to Myrtleford and started play at 10.00am, this was inconvenient for some who already had other morning commitments. Not a good day for Tunga, going down 82 to 59 shots with a one Rink win which gave us 2 points. Remain in seventh position on the ladder and play ladder leaders Moyhu on our return in January.
The planned Christmas Break-up was put on hold, and a New Year celebration will take its place when our green is playable, it’s looking magnificent now as the grass cover is thickening.
Thanks to those dedicated volunteers who are taking such good care with treating and watering.
