On Thursday, February 18 the club’s young guns took out the Goulburn Murray Cricket grand final by 20 runs against Tongala.
Harrison Keating, who was named the man of the match, played a starring role with the bat scoring 21 runs from 28 balls.
He was well supported by Matt Harrington who produced a 20-run stand to help Rochy reach 6/112 from its 25 overs.
In response, Tongala was all out for 92 as Rochester shone in the field with six run outs.
Ethan Howard and Jordy Rasmussen took two wickets apiece.
Coach Craig Williams said he was extremely proud of the young group.
“It was a great effort to come away with the win after toiling away all season,” he said.
“The boys should be extremely proud of their efforts because winning a grand final isn’t easy.
“One of the things I have enjoyed most this season is watching every individual player’s development.
“Just looking back on the start of the season you can see how far they’ve come with their skills.”
Williams said he hoped to see the group continue to stick together.
“They’re also a great group of mates off the field which is fantastic,” he said.
“Now most of them will go away and play footy together which they’re looking forward to after missing out last year.
“Only a handful will move up to under 16s because of their age which means they should be a strong team again next season.”
