He’s eyeing off a premiership in his first season.
Collins had been appointed to co-coach alongside Kahl Oliver before the 2020 season was cancelled, with the latter informing the Cats he was ready to step away from the coaching caper.
But LBU are confident now is the right time to remove Collins’ training wheels.
“I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead,” Collins said.
“It’s no secret we were aiming to win the premiership this year and we’re not going to be lowering our standards before next year.
“We’re confident of keeping most of the playing group together because a lot of us came back to the club to win a flag.
“We had a dominant junior side and it would be great if we can translate that into senior success.
“Now we’re just hopeful we will be playing footy together again as soon as possible.”
LBU president Colin Bacon said the appointment of Collins as sole senior coach was an easy one.
“It was simply a matter of both parties wanting to work together again,” he said.
“Brodie has been in touch with a lot of the players during this time away from the club and we really do appreciate his work behind the scenes.
“We’re very fortunate to have him back at the club after he went away and played at a higher level for eight years.
“I’ll sit down with him in the coming weeks and work out our plans for next season. There is a lot to work through with the reduced salary caps and points allocation changes.
“It’s a very exciting time to be part of LBU.”
The Cats are expected to field one of the most experienced teams in the Heathcote District League in 2021.
But it is the club’s young brigade which has Collins excited.
“Teaching is one of the reasons why I wanted to coach,” he said.
“I coached some junior teams over in Bendigo which was an experience I really enjoyed.
“When I was younger you always loved the opportunity to have the senior players at your training sessions and I want our juniors to feel the same way.
“This is a great opportunity to give back to the club who have helped me out a lot in my career.”
