Rochester's cricket season all comes down to this weekend.
In two days of action, the reigning premier will have the opportunity to keep its title defence alive.
It will all start off with day two of Rochy's clash against Bamawm-Lockington United, before facing Echuca South in a rescheduled game on Sunday.
And even if Rochester wins its remaining two matches, it still requires results to go its way with Cooma occupying the final place in the top four.
“We're going to give it our best shot,” captain Sean Williams said.
“It would be a great experience for our younger guys to play in an A grade finals series. There is no reason we can't trouble those other sides if we do qualify.”
Rochester remains in the box seat to defeat BLU after a strong first innings.
Rochy reached 7/241 before declaring after 60 overs.
While no batsmen passed 50, five did pass 30 to put the visitors in a commanding position, as Charlie Ryan top scored with 47 runs.
Tim Bubb (36 runs) and Waugh George (33) laid the perfect platform for Rochy, as they opened the innings with a 62-run stand.
And it was form the rest of the team capitalised on to produce one of their best batting performances of the season.
Amila Gunathilaka was the pick of the bowlers for the home side, taking 4/84 from 21 overs including the prized wickets of Ryan and Dylan Cuttriss.
“We're very pleased with how we started,” Williams said.
“Hopefully we're able to carry over the momentum and give ourselves the best chance of an outright victory which would go a long way to getting us into the four.”
In response, BLU reached 1/41 at stumps from their 17 overs.
Sean Williams made early in roads for the visitors claiming the wicket of Matt Hamilton for just three runs.
On day one of their clash with Kyabram Fire Brigade, Cooma made a strong impression with the bat reaching 9/201 from their 80 overs.
Liam Barrett was his side's best performer scoring 52 runs.
If Cooma was to defeat KFB on Saturday, then it would secure a place in the finals with 18 points separating the two sides.
Cooma will close out its season on Sunday against Tongala.
