Following the success of recent events in Echuca and Boort, the ‘Let’s talk about BIG weather’ series will make its way to Rochester this Friday, August 9, with an important topic on the agenda.
‘Women Strengthening Towns — as the backbone to local health and wellbeing’ will be the focal point of the evening, with a number of Rochester women to lead discussions at the event.
Whether in the home, on a committee, as a volunteer, on the frontline or in a community service role, women are often overlooked despite the vital role they play in the health and wellbeing of the community.
The talk will acknowledge and celebrate the role of women in strengthening towns, while answering the question of how to better listen to and support women in the community and assist with the important role they play.
Amanda Logie from Rochester Community House will discuss women leading in the community, especially in exceptional circumstances such as natural disaster.
Fiona Bradshaw from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal will talk about inspiring women-led projects across Australia, while Nicole Johnson and Karen Anderson from Women’s Health Loddon Mallee will look at the role of gender during recent flood events.
The event will take place on Friday from 5.30pm to 7pm at Rochester Town Hall.
The event is free, however those wishing to attend can RSVP at events.humanitix.com/women-strengthening-towns
