The skies cleared on Sunday, December 21, in time for the Salvation Army Rochester’s annual carols by candlelight.

As the storm rolled out, Rochester residents made their way to Windridge Oval for an evening of carolling.

As the Salvation Army band performed Christmas favourites, the crowd sang along using the song sheets provided.
A few attendees got a chance to shine during the nativity play, where they dressed up and re-enacted the story of Jesus’ birth.
Three Salvation Army members did a special dance to Rocking around the Christmas Tree with tinsel-decorated tambourines.

The Billabong Ranch was also on site, entertaining children with its range of animals.
Holy Trinity Reverend Samuel Kelly was among the performers, sharing a few songs from well-known Christian artists.
Rev Samuel also shared a special Christmas message with guests, highlighting the links between the Christmas symbols we know today and their link to Jesus Christ.
Everyone paused for a minute of silence and lit their candles in honour of those lost to the shootings in Bondi Beach.

At 6.47pm, everyone lit their candles and paused for a minute of silence to honour the lives lost during the tragic Bondi shootings that occurred on Sunday, December 14.
For the remainder of the evening, guests enjoyed more carols and a free barbecue.
