Following a hiatus due to COVID-19, the Rochester Motoring Club Inc made its show and shine comeback last year, attracting over 3000 people to the event.
With such positive feedback from last year’s event, the club was inspired to host another event.
President Merv Wild said the club was expecting another great turnout this year.
“It looks like we’re going to have a fairly good roll-up by the way the publicity’s gone,” he said.
“We run one way back before COVID ... and then last year we decided to have a crack and have another one, and it wound up bigger than Ben Hur.”
Visitors will be able to peruse cars, trucks and motorcycles of all makes and models throughout the day.
Entrants will be in the running for awards, with winners to be carefully selected by members of the Rochester Motoring Club.
There will be a community market running alongside the show and shine, with a range of stalls for visitors to explore.
Musician Jefferson Smith is also back this year to keep the event lively as he performs a mix of ’60s and ’70s music.
The Rochester Lions Club will be on site to feed the hungry crowd, with food and beverages available for purchase.
There was a range of cars, trucks and motorcycles at last year’s event.
Mr Wild said while the event was exciting for motor enthusiasts, it was more about bringing visitors to Rochester.
“Hopefully, it’ll be a little bit of a boost for the town, just to get anybody there, and a bit of a morale booster for the town as well,” he said.
“We’re only charging $2 a head for people to come in. We’re not using it really as a profit thing, it’s more for the town than the profit, so the more people we can get there, the better.”
The show and shine will be held on Saturday, October 25 from 8am to 2pm at the Rochester Racecourse Recreation Reserve.
To enter into the show and shine, it will cost $10 for all show vehicles.
General admission is $2 per person and free for kids under-15.
