Benalla Rural City Council is inviting families and community members to join us at the Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop Learning Centre (Benalla Library) for National Simultaneous Storytime at noon on May 27.
This year’s featured book, Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minton, is a joyful story that celebrates teamwork, determination and having the courage to try something new.
Mayor Bernie Hearn said this event was a highlight on the library calendar and a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together.
“National Simultaneous Storytime is a great way for us to come together and share a story,” Cr Hearn said.
“This year’s book focuses on action, teamwork and fun. It offers great messages for our children about navigating nerves, facing tricky opponents and overcoming the unexpected hurdles they encounter every day.”
Co-ordinated nationally by the Australian Library and Information Association, National Simultaneous Storytime encourages a love of books and literacy by having the same story read aloud in libraries, classrooms and homes at the same moment.
Benalla Library will host a group reading of Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller, for children and families.
“Our library team always does a fantastic job running these events,” Cr Hearn said.
“We look forward to welcoming the community for this special story time.”
National Simultaneous Storytime takes place at noon on Wednesday, May 27 at Benalla Library, 2 Fawckner Dve, Benalla.
It’s a free event, and all are welcome.
