Hosted by the Lockington Neighbourhood House, the Ladies Day is one of many events globally that will be held in honour of the International Day of Rural Women.
Lockington Neighbourhood House co-ordinator Tanya McDermott said the day was a chance for rural women to come together.
“(It’s) an opportunity to take time out from their day-to-day responsibilities and come together with like-minded community members for a relaxing, restful and engaging event that celebrates the essence of what it is to be a rural woman,” she said.
This year, women’s wellness specialist Sara Green will be the day’s guest speaker.
After a decade-long career in nursing, Ms Green studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a certified holistic health coach.
Believing that the mind, body and spirit are one, Ms Green helps her clients live fuller lives by exploring the root causes of their health concerns.
The team at Parsons of Rochester will also return this year, after popular demand, to showcase the latest in spring and summer fashion.
Guests will also be treated to a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival, a selection of finger food and the chance to win raffles and prizes.
Ms McDermott said the community call for another Ladies Day highlighted the value of such events.
“Many of the Lockington Neighbourhood House activities are built on creating opportunities for social engagement and promoting community cohesion,” she said.
“The response to the International Day of Rural Women Ladies Lunch is a wonderful demonstration of the importance of simply bringing people together.
“Breaking the everyday routine and spending time with others is beneficial for everyone's mental health and wellbeing.”
This year the Community Bank Elmore, Lockington and Rochester stepped up as the event’s major sponsor.
The Lockington District Business Centre committee of management has also been a huge support in preparation for the day.
Despite adding an extra 20 seats to this year’s event, tickets sold out a month before the event.
People are still encouraged to contact the Lockington Neighbourhood House if they wish to be added to the waiting list.
The event will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at the Lockington Community Centre from noon to 3pm.
