Intereach is proud to be part of the Corowa community and support people of all ages through a local hub that brings together a range of services, programs and visiting supports under one roof.
The office, located in Sanger St, delivers aged care, disability and family services, ROAR (Reach Out and Relax) and Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) programs, to people at all stages of life.
The Corowa office is also a local community hub, where people can seek information, attend groups, take part in activities, and connect with other services. It is also the community Centrelink agency.
Local staff member Amber Murphy said the hub was designed to be a first point of contact for people who weren’t always sure where to start.
“People often come in with a question or concern and leave with a clearer idea of what support is available to them,” Ms Murphy said.
“It’s about listening first, then helping people to navigate their options.”
Intereach’s Corowa hub also brings extra supports into town by regularly hosting groups, information sessions and visiting services, such as free legal help. Legal assistance is available each month and can also be accessed by phone outside of visiting times.
Intereach Senior Family and Child Worker Shannon Le-Lievre said awareness was just as important as availability.
“Sometimes services exist, but people don’t know where to find them or how to access them,” Ms Le-Lievre said.
“Our role is to help make those connections and ensure people feel comfortable reaching out.”
Intereach Co-CEO Yvette Buhagiar said the organisation recognised the strengths and challenges of living in a regional community like Corowa.
“We know there are gaps and ongoing needs in rural communities, and conversations about those needs matter,” Mrs Buhagiar said.
“At the same time, we want to make sure people know there is support available locally and that Intereach is committed to working alongside the community and other organisations to strengthen access over time.”
Intereach is continuing to work with local groups and service providers, with a focus on collaboration, shared information and community connection.
Community members are welcome to visit the Intereach Corowa office, attend a session, or simply start a conversation about what support might be helpful for them or their family.
