“We were trying to get a list of all the names of the 27,000 women in the WAAAF, but it did not exist,” says Rotary president Kerry Davies.
“However a list of those who died through illness or accident was available.”
This project was organised and funded by Tocumwal Rotary.
Paul Manginon from Mango Mini Diggers who helped with the design, fabrication and installation.
The total cost to Rotary was $5000, and it is an honourable addition to the Creek Walk.

The Tocumwal Optimists have witnessed, and greatly appreciate, the tremendous support shown by the community during their latest fundraising effort.
An impressive total of almost $2000 was raised through a combined street stall and garden cart raffle.
Gratitude is extended to the major donor, Bunnings of Yarrawonga, who generously contributed a garden cart filled with tools and other gardening products.
Marg Dixon of Tocumwal was the lucky winner of this fabulous first prize.
The second prize - a pot kindly donated by Optimist member Mary Higgins, and a plant provided by the Optimists’ Club - was awarded to Fran Hatty, also of Tocumwal.
Thanks are also extended to local pharmacist Ashley Wiles, who drew the winning tickets.
In the near future, funds raised will be distributed by the Optimists to local community organisations.
The Tocumwal Optimists meet monthly, host interesting guest speakers, and enjoy a range of social activities alongside their fundraising efforts.
New members are always welcome.
For more information, contact secretary Marg Dixon on 0419 438 887.

There is no obligation to join - just an open invitation for conversation and connection.
All members of the community are welcome to attend.

Past and present members of the Tocumwal Community Op Shop are invited to a reunion next month, celebrating and thanking them for over 60 years of community spirit and service.
Afternoon tea will be provided for attendees at the RSL Club on Monday, October 13 from 1.30pm.
Organisers have said they are hoping to have many past members join their present members to share memories of their service.
The Community Op Shop is responsible for many annual donations to the local community, schools, clubs and organisations, and it is believed Mrs Ethel Glass was a former Red Cross Op Shop organiser.
The volunteers of the shop are grateful for the support of the wider community in raising funds through donations and purchases.
If anyone has any past memories of early Op Shop days, or where the stores were located, please contact a member, so the information can be added to their archives.
