And down in Dookie, where the folks take their Good Friday Appeal very seriously, a Show-n-Shine and music event got everyone in the mood to celebrate.
More than $200,000 raised this year brought the 10-year total to an incredible $1,141,101.
Thanks went to Matt and Narelle Parker and their sons Jake and Blake who do a fantastic job every year collecting donations from Yarrawonga, Mulwala and Benalla.
The crowds always turn out in Dookie and Devenish where the Good Friday Appeal brings the whole community together.
Paul Durden, president of the Devenish Dookie District Good Friday Appeal said there were so many people to thank – the hardworking committee, the businesses and individuals who donated to the online auction, the farmers who donated cattle and sheep and everyone who supported their efforts.
The dollars keep rolling in at Dookie.
In the tiny town of Tungamah, with just 450 residents, Tungamah CFA volunteer Pam O’Dwyer said seven children and eight adults rattled the tins to raise $1008.90.
“People gave what they could, and I was very proud of everyone who turned out to help,” Pam said.
