DataGene has appointed Dr Emily Piper as its chief executive officer following her return to Australia after almost 10 years in the US with Zoetis, most recently heading its business process and strategic programs for its precision animal health group.
DataGene chair Tim Jelbart says the board is excited about the appointment.
“Emily’s technical expertise, commercial experience and deep understanding of cattle and genetics – both in Australia and internationally – make her exceptionally well suited to lead DataGene into its next phase,” Tim says.
Emily started her career as a pioneer in the commercial delivery of genomics in Australia.
With a PhD in veterinary science, she went on to lead the animal genetics laboratory at the University of Queensland, providing parentage verification and other genotyping services.
“Emily has demonstrated a passion for turning science into practical tools which deliver real value on farm. That alignment with DataGene’s purpose is clear to the board,” Tim adds.
