Observed globally on December 3, International Day of People with Disability was proclaimed by the United Nations in 1992 to promote the rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities and to raise awareness of the barriers they face.
This year’s theme, ‘Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress’, calls on communities to create environments where people with disability are leaders and active participants driving sustainable development and social progress.
Campaspe Shire Council, in partnership with local healthcare and disability support services, invites community members to join in free, inclusive celebrations marking the day.
The Echuca event, on Tuesday, December 2, will feature inclusive games and activities, local business stalls, guest speakers, food and drinks, and accessible amenities.

The event at Echuca East Recreation Reserve, Sutton St, will run from 10am to 1pm.
