Get Fire Ready events will kick off this weekend and run throughout October and the start of November.
CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan said it was important residents were prepared for the upcoming fire season.
“The Get Fire Ready initiative is about making sure Victorians understand their fire risk, have a fire plan and know where to get emergency information from,” Mr Heffernan said.
“Preparedness saves lives. By getting fire ready now, communities can reduce their risk and respond quickly if fire threatens.
It comes as local communities are still recovering from a bushfire that impacted Longwood and the surrounding community earlier this year.
The fire damaged more than 1800 properties and burnt thousands of hectares of land.
Meanwhile, residents in Yarroweyah and the surrounding area were also impacted by a grassfire.
Mr Heffernan emphasised that preparation did not need to be complicated.
“Clearing gutters, mowing lawns, trimming branches, knowing where you’ll go if a fire breaks out and setting a watch zone in the VicEmergency app can make a real difference in an emergency,” he said.
